The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out raids at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as part of its probe into a terror conspiracy case.

According to officials, the searches covered eight sites in Bihar, nine in Jammu and Kashmir, two in Uttar Pradesh, and one location each in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The simultaneous raids were conducted by separate NIA teams in coordination with state police, targeting residences and premises of individuals suspected of links with anti-national networks.

The case, registered earlier this year under number RC-1/2025/NIA/CHE, was handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs due to its potential national security implications.

Investigators suspect the network is engaged in attempts to foment unrest, channel terror financing, and aid recruitment and coordination with handlers across the border.

Officials said the operation is part of the NIA’s intensified nationwide crackdown on terror funding, recruitment modules, and sleeper cells. Previous operations have already led to the arrest of suspects linked to banned outfits and efforts to radicalise youth through both online and offline channels.

The government has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, directing security agencies to step up preventive measures against such threats.
